My Top Makeup Picks for a Simple Everyday Look

I’m going to be completley honest… I have never been much of a makeup girl until now. I did not know what eyeshadow shades to use, what my foundation match was, how to use color corrector, or how to get my eyelashes to stay up. But over the years I have gradually done some experementing and found what has worked best for me, and hopefully for you! I am an Amazon Affiliate and their products are also available for each product on the links below. I am also an Amazon Affiliate/Associate and I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Tip: Put on skincare before your makeup. I know its an extra few steps, but your skin will thank you later!

The Basics

These 4 products are the basis of what I wear everyday. They are very easy to find, and dare I say, affordable.

  1. JAPONESQUE Pro Performace Lash Curler
    • This has been a LIFESAVER for my lashes. I have almond eyes with a double lid that are very deep set. FOR YEARS I tried every lash curler I could fine and none could keep my lashes up or even curl them sufficiently. The grip is extrmley comfortable and gets to the base of my lashes with no pain. I absolutley love this! This can be found at Target or on amazon.
  2. e.l.f. Clear Lash and Brow Mascara
    • This retails on amazon for $5, but I found it at Ulta for $3 (I know, its a $2 difference but I’ll take it). Theres two products in one package, and I love the way my brows look after using this. This also works on holding my lashes in place. After applying it, I let it dry then curl them. I dont like using traditional mascara because taking it off stains my under eye, so I love this alternative!
  3. Maybelline NY Master Camo Color Correcting Pen (Apricot)
    • This color correcting pen is the best thing since sliced gluten free bread. I have tried other color correctors, including the palette from e.l.f. but none corrected like this. This shade (Apricot) is perfect for my skin tone and the color of my eye bags. If you want to see how I determined what color to use for my eye bags, click here!
  4. e.l.f. Hydrating Camo CC Cream
    • Not only does this product have spf 30, but also does not lie about its natural finish. After using the color corrector I put this on my under eyes, and it compltley transforms my face. I also do not see as much creasing with this product as I do with other foundations. I select a shade that is slighlty lighter than my natural skintone and it is very natural looking.

Cleansers/Makeup remover

  1. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water with VITAMIN C
    • I love using this for most of my makeup removers. I pour a small amount on a small towel and gently rub on my face. This works great on water based makeup, but I do not reccomend using it for oil based makeup because it only smears the product. The ones I listed above are all easily taken off with this product.
  2. KOSE Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil
    • This is an amazing cleanser for any oil based makeup, and even for the prodcts listed above. It is insanely quick and I can use my hands to rub it on my face, no towel necessary. However, this does get in my eyes a lot and can be really stubborn to get out. This can be found at some walmarts and I usually purchase this on amazon.

Other Makeup

  1. HEROINE MAKE Long Up Macara Super Waterproof
    • Whenever I use this, my lashes are UP for HOURS. I don’t use this often because I notice that even with the cleaning oil, my under eyes still look quite dark.I found this at a few asian makeup stores and amazon.
  2. Urban Decay 24/7 Inks Liquid Eyeliner Pen
    • This is honestly my favorite eyeliner. It has a very fine tip and its ergonomic grip helps my hands to shake less when applying it. It is smear proof and pretty sweat resistant, which is a plus for me to wear in the summer.
  3. Aquaphor Lip Repair Tubes
    • I usually use carmex lip balm or vaseline as lip balm. But I love this brand because it stays the longest and in my opinion, moisturizes my lips in less uses.
  4. 100% Pure and Natural Castor Oil
    • My eyelashes and eyebrows are THRIVING (do people still say that?) because of castor oil. My lashes have gotten so much longer and stronger and my brows have gotten a little thicker. This is cruelty free and vegan whil also being suitable for all hair types.
  5. Cliganic Jojoba Oil
    • I have had hair oil and conditioner with jojoba oil in it and it does not dissapoint. I usually use hair oil on my hair after a shower when it is a little damp. It is totally different from using shampoo, not only does my hair feel lighter but it is so silky smooth!
