Affordable, Accessible Skincare + Body Care

Having a skincare routine is one of the best things that has happened to my skin. It not only motivates me to start my day, but it has had a profound effect on my face. I remember being absolutely lost when trying to get a skincare routine started…I was not sure what to get outside of face wash and the occassional sunscreen. But I am now happy to say the routine I have had for a year has worked wonders without burning a hole through my wallet. So here are some of my favorites! 5-Step Skincare Routine

1. Face Wash

I have had A LOT of experience with face washes. My skin gets oily very easy, but when I use most face washes for oily skin my face feels like a desert. I love this Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser because of the quantity for the price, and the quality. It does not leave my face feeling dry!

Alternatives: Cetaphil an Esfolio are awesome. I usually find esfolio at Marshalls but they can also be found on amazon, just like all of the products listed. The Hyaluronic Acid Peach Cleansing Foam is what I use in the morning, and it has a lovely peach scent!

2. Toner

Unlike face washes, I have only ever used one toner which has done its magic the first time. I adore this rice toner from I’m From because its main ingredeint is simple: rice. It has improved my skin’s moisture and reduced redness, while helping me achieve glass skin.

Alternatives: I love CeraVe’s products and their toner is no exception. While I have not used it, their Hydrating Toner has many promising reviews from satisfied customers. I have also seen others creating rice water toners at home.

3. Serum

COSRX Snail Mucin is a wonderful serum that I was apprehensive about…mainly because it has snail secretion filtrate. But it adds extra moisture to my skin that I can’t complain about. This does take a while to dry and I find on hotter days it feels like it never dries. It can leave your skin feeling oily if you do not let it dry.

Alternatives: The Watermelon Dew Drops is another option I see people raving about. It comes in an aesthetic pink bottle and most people can see a change quickly.

4. Eye Cream

The CeraVe Eye repair cream has been my go to for years now. I have dark eye bags with deep wrinkles that have been reduced, to what I think is caused by the cream. This does not have retinol in it and the results are astounding!

Alternatives: You could say I’m obsessed with CeraVe… but can you blame me? I was between their eye repair cream and the skin renewing eye cream when I was first deciding what to get. Their skin renewing eye cream contains caffiene and targets wrinkles and crows feet, which I have.

5. Moisturizer

The CeraVe AM moisturizing lotion is beyond amazing. I use the AM bottle in the morning and the PM Moisturizing Lotion at night, within a few months I noticed my skin was smoother and more elastic. I also had fine wrinkles on my forehead that I noticed have been reduced. Admittedley, I did not know you also applied skincare to your neck when I started using it. But now my once rough neck is smooth like my face!

Alternatives: The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream can be used for the face, body, and hands. This is a great deal is you’re like me and want multi-purpose items! I also reccommend the Neutrogena sunscreen for daily protection…yes you use sunscreen even when you’re not at the beach.

Body Care + Hair Care

The eos Shea Butter Body Lotion is my favorite lotion. The smell is amazing and it dried very fast, leaving a very soft feeling on my skin. I also do not sweat it off throughout my day. My go-to is the Jasmine Peach scent, because I love stacking it with the Marc Jacob Eau So Sweet Perfume Mini. It has a floral and fruity smell that is long lasting, especially when combined with this lotion. An alternative for this lotion is the Hempz Sweet Jasmine and Rose Plant Collagen Lotion. The travel size goes a long way for me!
